Getting Around Batam by Taxi

Batam has metered taxis and app-based ride options. The island is compact but the roads are not always fast, so build in extra time for journeys during peak hour (07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00).

Key Journey Times

Batam Centre to Nagoya: 20–25 min (SGD 8–12). Nagoya to Nongsa: 35–45 min (SGD 18–25). Batam Centre to Barelang Bridge: 30–40 min (SGD 15–20). All prices are estimates – confirm the fare before entering the taxi.

Ride-Hailing Apps

Grab and GoJek both operate in Batam and are generally cheaper than hailed taxis. Download the app before you arrive in Batam, as a foreign SIM or a Singapore SIM with data roaming will work.
