Majestic Fast Ferry: ~3–4 daily departures from Tanah Merah; BatamFast: multiple daily departures. Fewer sailings than HarbourFront — book ahead for morning departures.
For travellers staying in the eastern half of Singapore — Changi, Tampines, Pasir Ris or near Changi Airport — Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is significantly more convenient than the busy HarbourFront Centre. The terminal is smaller, queues are shorter, and immigration on weekends tends to move faster. If you live east of the city, this is your preferred departure point.
The terminal is accessible via MRT on the East-West Line (Tanah Merah station, EW4), followed by a five-minute taxi ride to the ferry building. Changi Airport travellers can reach Tanah Merah in under 20 minutes. The trade-off is fewer daily sailings compared to HarbourFront: plan around the schedule rather than turning up and walking on.
BatamFast is the primary operator and runs multiple daily departures. Majestic Fast Ferry offers approximately three to four departures per day from Tanah Merah; their Batam-side schedule mirrors the outbound. Sindo Ferry operates a limited schedule from this terminal. All three are bookable via 12Go and most on Klook.
Departures from Tanah Merah begin at approximately 08:00 SG time; last departure is approximately 18:00. The journey to Batam Centre takes approximately 55–70 minutes depending on sea conditions. Verify current departure times on operator websites before travel.
With fewer sailings per day than HarbourFront, flexibility is more limited. Book ahead, especially for morning departures and any sailing on a Singapore public holiday. BatamFast and Majestic are both straightforward to book via 12Go, where all-in prices are clearly displayed.
Return sailings from Batam Centre to Tanah Merah broadly mirror the outbound schedule. The Singapore Passenger Departure Fee (SGD 10) and Batam Terminal Fee (IDR 100,000) apply on both legs. Arrive at Batam Centre terminal at least 30 minutes before departure for a smooth immigration experience on the return.
